LUCKNOW: Uttar Pradesh is a ripe market for direct selling and leading company in the segment,
Amway India on Monday said that the state has shown a growth rate of more than 5% in recent times. With over 27,000 Amway Business Owners (ABOs) in the city, the company said that they are looking at the city including major centres like Varanasi, Allahabad and Kanpur as one of the major catchment areas.
Talking to media persons on Monday, associate vice president of the company, GS Cheema said that with more than 1.94 lakh ABOs from the state, Amway is looking at higher growth prospects. “Amway is doing good business and our health products are well received by both the urban and rural population,” said Cheema while launching a new variant of the popular Nutrilite protein powder brand.
He added that with clarity in legislation, direct selling sector will pick up in the state.
Nutrilite All Plant Protein Powder is currently sold in 55 markets around the world and is the main product of the popular Nutrilite brand.
“As one of the essential macronutrients of a balanced diet, protein needs to be consumed each day to support health. According to Indian Council of Medical Research, the RDA (Recommended Dietary Allowance) for Indian adults is 1 gram per kg body weight every day. This means that an adult weighing 60 kg requires 60 grams of protein every day. Most people have difficulty consuming the recommended amount of protein in their diet, which is why adding a protein source may help people get the recommended protein their bodies need,” said GS Cheema.
“Our marketing communication has been focusing on the fact that vital nutrients like protein, vitamins, minerals and good fatty acids are required to achieve optimum nutrition. These nutrients get consumed in every task we undertake on a daily basis and are therefore required every day,” added Cheema.
Amway India is targeting the burgeoning nutrition market in India with the launch of the variant. There is a growing awareness about nutrition among the Indian consumers which has led to a healthy growth of vitamins and dietary supplements category over the last five years or so.
The company said that the variant is an all plant formula that is designed to provide synergy of all the nine essential amino acids as per the proposed guideline of WHO, FAO and UNU. The product claims to provide additional benefits of phytonutrients like soy isoflavones which are known to have anti-oxidant properties.
